Tips for Spice Storage Freshness
f you love to cook, then you know how important it is to start each recipe with the best ingredients. When deciding how best handle your spice storage, you have to consider the types of spices that you want to store as well as the space in your kitchen. True, most spices do not need a lot of space; however, the location of where the spices are stored will have an effect on how long your spices will stay fresh. In general you want to place you spice storage in an area that is away from heat. Although you often see spice racks hung above a stove in design magazines, this is not always the best place to place your spices. The racks may look attractive but the flavor of the spices may be compromised. As you can imagine, heat that rises from your stove top or oven will continually cause any spice placed in direct path of this heat to warm and cool on a continuous basis.
